Looking for information on Henry HOMER who immigrated from Germany to Sullivan County in the late 1840s. He appears in the 1850 census in Thompson. By the 1860 census he had a farm in Callicoon and is married to Barbara with four children - Charles, Adam, William and Edfort, and apparently spent the rest of his life nearby. I am the great grandson of his sister Maria HOMER and of interest to me is where Henry was born in Germany, as well as any other information regarding the family roots in Germany.
Thank you.

I am looking for information on Adaline (GORTON) YAPLE in the Fallsburg area. She was born in 1852 and the 1880 census says she is divorced with a son, Allen and daughter Maude. She also had a son, Willis, born in 1888. I am trying to find her husband before she was divorced. I also found a 1900 census that says that she is widowed and living with Willis. My family line runs through Willis and we believe his father is Herman YAPLE. I am assuming she married twice but I can't find her husbands anywhere. The only Herman YAPLE I found is in census records after 1900. Any help would be appreciated.

I was wondering if anyone remembers the name of a Dairy (might be Foremost Dairy) in Monticello? My father worked there in the early 1960's (about 1961-2). It was just an office with freezer storage behind it and dealt with ice cream and ice cream specialities. They catered the ice cream deserts for Neil Sadeka's engagement party. I rode in the delivery truck to deliver it. The office and freezer building were at one end of the main street and located behind a dinner. It was a traditional dinner that was silver and oblong. They had small juke boxes at the tables. They served the best coffee. I would love a picture of the area. Thanks, JanLori

Seeking parents of John JORDAN born 6 Mar 1764 where I know not. He died 26 Jan 1850 Pike, Wyoming Co, NY, but buried in family lot in Friendship, Allegany Co., NY. He married 15 Sep 1785 probably in or near Goshen, Orange NY Julia SWARTOUT born 18 Nov 1769 daughter of Jacobus SWARTOUT who before and during the Revolution lived in Sugar Loaf which is now in town of Chester, Orange Co., NY but then in town of Warwick, Orange Co., NY.
Following children born to John and Julia:
Michael 1786 in Orange Co
William 1788
Jesse 1790
James 1791
John 1792
Andrew; 1795
Betsey 1797
Isaiah 1799
Sally (Patty) 1801
JACOB 1803
Julia Margaret 1805
Unnamed son 1807 at which time Julia probably died because she does not appear in 1810 census. John/Julia do not appear in the 1790 census of NYS in their own home with two sons nor have I found them in PA, NJ or any N.E. state.
By 1800, JORDAN family residing in Cherry Valley, Otsego Co., NY. From there, Michael, William and Jesse settled in and died in Steuben Co. James and John settled town of Cuba, Allegany Co., NY; Isaiah, after living with his brother, Michael in Steuben Co., migrated on to Allegany Co and he and brothers Andrew and JACOB settled in town of Wirt of Allegany Co., NY.
Betsey (Elizabeth) JORDAN married Sebastion WELLER and lived in Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., NY. Sally married John DYGERT and lived in Montgomery Co, NY. Julia Margaret married Charles PHELPS, migrated to Pike, Wyoming Co. and it was at her home that JOHN died in 1850.
In 1840, John JORDAN is still residing at Cherry Valley but by 1848 has migrated to town of Wirt and because he died before 1850 census was taken. It has been family tradition that he lived with his son, JACOB, but his will probate states he died at home of his daughter in Wyoming Co.
Any help would be appreciated on these above mentioned families.

Hello, My grandfather, Morris RUDERMAN, his wife, Sarah COHEN and their children: Rachel, Ceil and Henry lived in Haven, NY at the time of the 1910 census. (His name was misspelled RUDDERMAN). By the 1920 census, the family was living in Port Jervis where Morris was a butcher. I believe that there was no census taken in Sullivan county for 1905. Are there any records for Haven or Sullivan county between 1900-1910?
I have recently found Morris' sister's ships manifest record stating she was coming to her brother in Haven, Sullivan Co. in February, 1904.
I would appreciate hearing from someone if you have any information or suggestions for my continuing researching.
Thanks,
Liz Ruderman Miller

I tried responding to Laura's original query in 1999. Got back an invalid address. Can anyone help?
Laura,
I found your query about CROSS - INGRAM - CAGWIN - EDWARDS in Sullivan Co., NY dated 1999. I'm just trying to do some research for my Aunt Joyce's family, who married my mother's brother, so I can give my cousins a tree with both sides of their family. All indications are that Aunt Joyce is the g-granddaughter of Rufus & Clarissa TOMPKINS. (Rufus & Clarissa (CROSS?) TOMPKINS / Charles Anthony & Martha (TOMPKINS) ZIMMERMAN / Harry Charles & Frances Eliza (GUNN) ZIMMERMAN / Joyce ZIMMERMAN.
Mainly I'm looking for confirmation that I read your query correctly and that Clarissa is the daughter of Jacob & Emeline CROSS. If so, anything about Jacob & Emeline's ancestry would be appreciated. I'd be glad to fill you in on any info that I have on that branch if you're interested. Thanks for your time. Joe Valentino

I am seeking info on John DILLON, b 1823-26 Lisbellaw, Co Fermanagh, grew up in either Co Cavan or Tyrone, son of John DILLON & Mary Jane [MURPHY] DILLON. Married to Mary [WELSH] DILLON aprox 1847. His obit states ".....both sides of the family were prominently involved in the failed 1798 Revolution under Emmet."
Immigrated to USA in 1849--51. Farmed in Mongaup Valley, Bethel, NY. They had a large family, one of who was my GGGrandfather, Thomas DILLON b. 1852 . He too was a prosperous farmer in Monticello, Sullivan Co., NY and died in 1912.
His brother, John J DILLON, was both the publisher and owner of an important nationally distributed newspaper out ot NYC, "The Rural New Yorker", From the early 1900's till his death approx 1950.
My grandfather was named Thomas for his father and operated the farm after the death of his father till the early 1960's at which time he became ill with cancer, stopped farming and was forced financially to sell portions of the land.
Many family members have built homes on parts of Thomas DILLON's farm and where they currently reside.
I am looking for any and all leads that may pertain to my DILLON family. I will answer everyone who communicates with me.
I have a wonderful family website, www.gerisgenes.com, which was created by my beautiful, gifted and talanted daughter Geri. In the site you will find photos of the DILLON family , including our original ancestor John as well and information pertaining to not only the DILLON family, but all other branches as well. Please sign our guestbook and add the URL to your website if you have one so we can visit it.
